Jose Luis Salon: On Stage

By Christine Vivoli, Snackbox

Celebrating their 25th Anniversary, Jose Luis Salon had an amazing runway show at The Hartland Plaza. The show was absolutely incredible. Everything from the costumes to how the hair was done was pure perfection. This was an inspiring event that fantastically commemorated all 25 years of the Jose Luis Salon keeping Austin fabulous.

The show was broken down into three segments inspired by the films Let me Entertain You, Red Italiano and Desperado. Each segment began with an introduction that included clips from each of the films as well as the staff credits. Then the Let me Entertain You segment began with beautiful showgirls adorned in silver, sparkly costumes strutting down the runway. Following them, were models in blue sequin and fringe dresses with over the top white boas.

Up next was the Red Italiano segment. This featured models in costumes with intricate red sequins that glimmered and shinned when the light hit them. Big, red feather fans added an extra effect as the models made their way down to the end of the runway.

Desperado inspired the final segment.  The models walked down the runway in Spanish inspired costumes to the sounds of a female mariachi band. Black sequin tops and shorts with flair coming out of the back could not help but encourage them to dance.

The extra special touch was at the end of each segment Jose and members of his staff transformed the models hair on stage. Their hair was redone to include exquisite pieces made out of hair. Then all the models sauntered down the runway again to showcase these beautiful pieces.

The show was a major success especially in reaching its goal to aid the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDFR) in Austin. The creativity in this show was truly indescribable. Jose Luis Salon can look forward to many more spectacular years.
